Store values in a range to an array in VBA

I'm sure it's simple.. I just can't put 2 and 2 together right now. Anywho... I have a range that I need stored into an array in for some macro calculations. Here's what I've been using that isn't working:

'The data for the bar chart
data = range("A2:A31").Value

Searching for "range into an array" on this site returned hundreds of hits. The third one down in the list is thread707-1164532 which provides an answer to your question.
