Hello

I'm running a Exchange 5.5 machine with 256M of RAM. The server just started moving very slow, and I've checked in Task Manager and store.exe is utilizing 98% of the CPU. Does anyone know how to resolve/deal with this?

Thanks

It sounds like you have a message stuck in a queue. This is usually caused by either a very large message going through SMTP on a low-bandwidth internet connection, or a corrupt message. Examine the queues. If you have an outbound internet message, go to the IMCDATA\Out folder and move the oldest file to another location. This should clear the logjam.

THanks Bob, but how do I get into the actual file? There are only two files there and an archive folder.

I was going to re-apply SP4. You don't think that will help?

Redman,

I would call Microsoft if after reapplying SP4 the store.exe it still goes to %100. I believe there is a hotfix that they will send you if the SP4 does not fix. I had the same occurrence with Sp3 and I updated to SP4 and was good. But I did mention about a hotfix (I believe relates to the IMS) and MS said if the store.exe goes to 100% call them. Actually I would call them before reapplying SP4. Sp4 should resolve this issue.

We have a simular situation dual 700 processor, with 4Gb of ram, and 70GB of hard drives with Exchange 5.5
We are running an NT platform, sp6a with Exchange sp4.
The server has previously been running without any problems.
However the last coupls of days the store.exe is using between 85-99% of the cpu usage and using at present 1.2GB if ram.
We ran the Exchange optimisation last night, and re-installed sp4, this seemed to resolve the issue, however overnight the cpu usage is again being eaten by the store.exe.

Any ideas please ???
