I currently have an exchange 2003 SP1 cluster of 2 servers both running groupshield. Both servers have 3GB of RAM.
Store.exe when Node 1 is the active node is climbing up to 1.8Gb usage and the information store is grinding to a halt. If we switch nodes to node 2 the Store.exe sits comfortably at 1.2Gb without any problems.

Insight manager flags no errors and a memory consistency check shows no errors.

Would be very grateful for any ideas??

I'm going to assume you're running on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise... Have you added the /3gb /userva=3030 to the boot.ini on both servers?

Yes, checked all that. Also checked that the store.exe upgraded correctly during SP1 install as apparently the AV product can inhibit it.

But all fine......really struggling with this one.

Everything is the same between the 2 nodes? Exchange, IE, OS, AV, etc... ?

Yep, exactly the same.....thats the wierd thing!?!

Have yougot any AV software installed on these two Exchange boxes. Different versions of AV filter drivers etc can cause memory usage / leakage issues which may be playing a part.

It may have nothing to do with it either but worth a shot!

the AV is groupshield - both installed and updated at the same time.
It would appear however that the fault roots with AV on the first node.
We are going to move to symantec, so will keep you posted if the uninstall of groupshield solves it.......?
Thanks for your input.

When you migrate to Symantec AV make sure that you youexclude the priv & pub edb/stm files from the file system scanner /realtime scanner.

If it thinks there is a virus in these files and trys to repair it kiss goodbye to your exchange DB.
