We are running NT4, sp6a with Exchange 5.5 sp4.
We have a dual 700 processor with 5GB of ram, and 70Gb of hard disk.
Last couple of days the store.exe has increased and is now using between 85 - 95 % of processing power.
Last night we have ran the Exchange optimisation, and re-installed sp4. We do not have any files which are sitting in IMCDATA, apart from the usual ones before they get passed onto the mailbox, and then get archived.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jim

i thought NT only supported 4GB RAM - how did you get 5GB to work?

store.exe is supposed to do this. read the thousand threads that have gone on before in this forum for details.

We had a similar problem and it had to do with our ETrust AntiVirus v6 trying to run a background scan on the STORE.EXE. (We are also running 5.5 SP4 and NT SP6). We had to update our ETrust with four or 5 patches and then add a variety of services to the background scan filters. Once store.exe was added to the filter list, a stop/start of the ETrust services and the Store service dropped the CPU load down the normal range...
