Stopping synchronizing, Hotmail to Outlook 2003

I want to keep all emails but I find that when I delete mail from Hotmail, the next time I ask Outlook 2003 to send and receive it sycchronizes the account by deleteing from my computer all the mail I deleted on Hotmail.
Is there a way to stop this?
