stopping a Query whenever i want 1

Hi,
this is my first participation here.
English is not my mother language so I hope I'm clear enough... sorry if I'm not.

I was asqued to write a programm than can stop and restart a query or stored procedure (in SQL Server 7) when it is in process whenever the user wants.
He has many stored procedures and queries waiting and he wants to stop the actual query, start another that is more urgent and resume the stopped query later.

I think this is not possible, but I wonder...

You are correct! In most cases, once a query is stopped, you cannot restart it from the point it left off.

As for starting and stopping queries/stored procedures, you could wrap them in a job and stop and start them at will. Not sure what this would gain you except not having to open multiple query analyzer windows.
