I am in dire need of help. I have a Dell 4400 w/Windows NT. Today I mistakenly turned off the lightswitch that our computer is hooked up thru and our ups didn't work correctly, so my computer went down. I turned it back on & got the error message STOP 0x000000ED (ox80F5DC30, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) on that scary blue screen.
I tried to run the computer in Safe Mode like it said to, but it didn't work. I've tried chkdsk, it froze up. I've done pretty much everything I can think of. I've read all the Stop procedures on the Microsoft pages, and nothing is working for me.
I've since gotten 3 different STOP messages...the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, and the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.
Every time I try to do safe mode it just goes to one of these messages. I've tried to reinstall Windows XP, doing the Recovery...but it gave me a bunch of errors saying files are not found.
I've tried to install the service pack 1, but my system crashes halfway during trying to run the install...one time I was almost done and then it said that some other program was using the regedit.exe file, but there were NO other programs open.
I've also not been able to open taskmgr.exe, it says the file is now corrupted.
I'm at a total loss as to where to begin...I can't get online now, I was able to before, but after running chkdsk, it is now not even letting me to that point.
I have a lot of things on this computer that I can't lose!!! I haven't backed up my kids' pictures in a few months (my own fault) and that is what I'm most concerned about....my husband is saying maybe one of the hardware components are now broken, but we can't tell which one would need replacing.
Is this something that happens alot when you take a power hit? I have never seen anything like this & it's so frustrating that I can't install that service pack (from what I've been reading, it may help?)
Can anyone please help me? I'll provide more info if you need it!!! I just want to fix my computer!
Thanks so much!
