How do I pull off a step by step confirmation in windows xp?

I tried with the f8 during bootup just after POST, but there wasn't any option....

Any ideas?

Confirmation of loaded service and device drivers?

Start, Run msconfg
On the General page, select "Selective Startup"

Remember to reverse this when done.

You use to have that option in Safe Mode in Windows 98 but not in XP.

The closest option from the Safe Mode screen in XP is "Enable Boot Logging".

This option turns on logging when the computer is started with any of the Safe Boot options except Last Known Good Configuration. The Boot Logging text is recorded in the Ntbtlog.txt file in the %SystemRoot% folder.
