Okay, I've given up. I just got a brand new computer, got it out of the box and turned it on. When I turned it on, the screen was blank, it didn't start booting up or anything, and my monitor wasn't being powered on. (Because it shuts off when the computer is off, but I know the computer is on because I can hear it humming.) After say.. About a minute, poof, it boots up and starts running normally, (monitor also switches back on.) I can't figure out why it's doing that. My only guess is because it gets stuck in some kind of suspend mode? I'm not sure, but I hope someone knows the answer to this and how I can fix it.

Sometimes the graphic card needs some time to "warm up".
What kind of graphic card do you have?

Do you have virusguard enabled and/or fast memory check disabled in BIOS? If so try disable and enable them.

My first thought at least. /Sören

It's a ATI Rage 2c AGP card. I tried swapping cards with the one in my other computer with no change. Virusguard is disabled, but I'm not sure about the fast memory check or whether I have that option in my BIOS.

I noticed some slowness with my new computer, but that had to do with the graphic card.

During bootup (POST) the BIOS checks your memory for faults. You can see it counting your memory. Default it do this three times, which takes time. Fast memory check (which I think should be enabled by default) makes BIOS run a faster version of the check.

I think you should read through your Motherboard manual and see if you have any annoying features in your BIOS that makes this happen. /Sören
