Whenever I shut down my computer (yes, I do it properly, start, shut down), The first problem, is that it forcibly closes 2 of my programs (zone alarm pro and norton av), and then shuts down. The second problem, is whenever I start the computer again, it ALWAYS does a disk check -- I'm not sure if these are related in anyway, but I do know the latter is VERY annoying (being how it takes so long), and the fact that it isn't normal.

Any Idea?

Firstly, when u say that it forcibly closes 2 of my programs (zone alarm pro and norton av), down, what exactley comes up on the screen? ie what tells you that they are forcibly being closed down? Warmest regards, Chris

it says "this program has stopped responding, and will be closed in X amount of seconds.." and then closes it.

it says "this program has stopped responding, and will be closed in X amount of seconds.." and then closes it. Though the programs dont actually crash, they just dont seem to wanna cooperate with Windoze

Wait, I take that back, it says "ending program" with a timer, and gives me the option to 'close now and lose all unsaved data'

a thing I think might be the problem is I scheduled a disk check once, but maybe its still in the scheduler?

I'm sorry I keep making multiple posts, but I keep remembering new things (actually, the first double-post was a mistake).

I get this behaviour with a couple of programs as well (Fax monitor is one of them) when I shut down my PC, but not always. There is 2 issues here, but we will tackle the first one first. When NOT online, with windows running, END TASK your antivirus and firewall program, then shut down your PC correctly and see if you get any error messages. As for the second problem, make sure scheduler is disabled for NAV and all windows programs. The second problem we will have to look at more closely Warmest regards, Chris

Always think OUTSIDE the square

where is the scheduler located that the disk check would be written to?

I manualy closed the ZAP and NAV, but it still does a disk check when I reboot
