Software NT5B78EB ENG /SPN FLASH VM V 2.0.10
KSU 3.0

System running fine then a minor power outage and now:
AA and CCR "Not Allowed"
F983/44 states VML (Lite)
KRS shows no keys generated

Obviously there was VML in it at one time.
When we do our thing with the downgrade to upgrade it via software swap and works we think all is good, but now I wonder.

As if the VML stays in there for life!.

Or I wonder not enough reinstalls were done when downgrading/swaping.

Has any one had to fix a unit twice???.

I have a VML here in my office that I've been working on. I tried swapping out the software. It requests a keycode upgrade f983/44 also. I've not been able to get keycodes for cabinet upgrade.
Possibly the cabinet upgrade defaulted and keycodes are lost. It was recommended that I just upgrade to a flash and save myself the hassle.

I've downgraded a VML to V1.7 or lower and this has always flushed out the Lite configuration. Do a REINSTALL with the VML software, power off as soon as you see "Resetting", put in the V1.7 software, and power on. Once it's booted up you can then swap for V1.9 or higher regular software and you should be good to go.

Curly, you may just have a software corruption from the power blinking instead of an issue with VML software. I've never had it return once I've flushed it out doing the above procedure.

Maybe just a rare case where it was not fully flushed out, I cant say how previous tech did do the downgrade/upgrade trick but perhaps some method other than the usual and that it only half worked.

Hey Brian, as I said previously, that's good info.. But I started thinking, if you're not actually upgrading the VML to a flash w/ keycodes aren't you manipulating it w/ the above process???

Just a thought, have you ever powered one down afterwards when it's been up and running???? I'm thinking that the Lite is still in there. I'll give your method a try and power down... C what happens

Just putting in a standard software cart will not override Lite, it must be wiped. I keep a 1.44 just for that purpose. Any software below the level that requires initial install of F903 will work. This will blow out the Lite restrictions.

Curly i suspect yours was a Lite that was upgraded with a keycode and then the keycode was wiped by the brown out.

I suspect they did not use key codes and instead upgraded the software, however when the did the downgrade/upgrade trick they probably didn't use low enough software when down grading......as you said:

"Any software below the level that requires initial install of F903 will work. This will blow out the Lite restrictions."

So they may have had 2.0 lite and tried to wipe it by downgrading with only 1.9.

We have all in our lab so will test the theory in the next few days to be sure.

Thanks all.
