I have a strange queiry.

What is is-3GJ58.exe?

I have searched the net and keep getting nothing found on this at all.

i have windows XPsp2 and just installed PDF creater. MS antispyware asked me if I wanted to allow the above program to start at start up. I searched for it but nothing. I have installed pdf creater before and this exe file was never installed. Can anyone shed some light on the matter?!?

Where is that file located at?

if it is in the TEMP or TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES... THEN by all means DELETE it... MS Antispy prevent it from Autostarting...

Mostlikely you have been hit by a Malware... or Virus...

suggest you Run EWIDO ( and an AntiViral Programm...

The file is located in C:\Windows
it is also accompanied by is-3GJ58.lst

This is from a fresh install so I would hope no virus is on there as that was the reason for a fresh install (a trojan and a virus).

Any idea as to what these are for?

I have checked other PC's with the same program's installed and these files aren't there. I can happily delete them but I would like to know what they are and how it got on the PC

I agree with BigBadBen, it sounds like malware of some sort.

Probably malware. What version of Windows are you running? Was it directly connected to the net when you built it? Has it been patched? Was it directly connected to the net for some time before it was patched?

SANS is currently reporting a life expectancy of about 20 minutes for an unpatched Windows PC directly attached to the net. That means that within 20 minutes of being connected to the Internet your PC would likely be hit some some sort security threat (like a virus or worm). So even if you had just rebuilt your PC, it's still possible to get hit. Then of course there is the possibility that whatever caused the initial infection to begin with happened again, whether that was an action or another compromised machine on the network, etc).

Windows XP. I installed Service pack 2 and antivirus (etrust) before plugging into the network. As soon as i was on the network I downloaded the other update from ms update.

After blocking the program from the start up neither etrust or ms antispyware spoted it even though the file was just sitting there.

I have deleted it now so there should be no problems.

Thnaks for everyones comments if it resurfaces i will add any new information. I was just a little suprised I couldnt find anything abou that file name.
