I have exchange5.5 running on my server along with file and print. We have internet access through a T1 line and hop once to an internet service P who handles our mail. COuld I install WA on this server and somehow have my accounts get in via the web? Do I need a separate server ? WHat are my minimum reqs'. I tried looking on this site in FAQ but what I really need is "The IDiots Guide to OWA" to get me going.

Thanks

I set up OWA on our Exchange 5.5 server (running on Small Business Server) in under a day. There is some good documentation on MS's technet site on OWA - I did a simple search and returned this summary page:

(long link, sorry)

I also printed up a document called "Planning & Deploying Outlook Web Access 5.5" which detailed most of the steps, and then a very helpful TS person sent me a document outlining the steps required in shorthand. Let me know if you can't find the documents on MS's site and I'll see if I can scan you a set.

Obviously, you'll need your server to be configured with a MX record so your users can hit it from the Internet, but with the proper planning, it should be up and running in no time!

Thanks - I just opened this today - I will read through, i found the white paper on deployment. If i have anyquestions I will post them here . Thanks a lot.

What do you mean by an MX record? Let me tell you what I have here with my limited network experience. I am not a network guru.

We have a HP P3 server with 1gb memory-27 gh of storage. it runs our print and file and also acts as our Exchange server. I did not install it but inherited it and basically make sure its up and running. We have 50 users and 3 hubs.
Its running ok, using about 50 % of its memory.

Our server connects to our hubs, the hubs connect to a cysco router/firewall then to a Kentrox CSU,then onto a T1. Our mail comes in from our isp who also hosts our web site.

I believe IIS is running on our server I put patch on it a few months back when there was the big scare .

I really dont know where to start on this but I believe I have all the parts.

I have an older compaq pII server that was once a workstation. I am going to convert it back to a server to run OWA. My first question is do I configure it as a server rather than a backup domain controller , do i have to load exchange on it. ?????????????????

I downlaoded the papers you s[poke of and the paper 'Planning and Deploying Outlook Web Access".

This enquiring mind wants to know.

PS I just installed a backup domain controller that runs our accounting software. This was once running on our primary server.

Any help woudl be appreciated. I basically like I said need very explicit instructions. I can't make rhyme our reason out of the papers.

If you are willing to help I would deeply appreciate it.
