I am running Vista home premium 64bit version. I can't click on my start button and the search function for vista does not work. Any suggestions?

I assume rebooting did not solve the problem?

A little knowledge is dangerous.

Nope- restarted a number of times. You can click on the start button but no menu pops up. Also, you can enter info in the search query of vista, but it doesn't search anything.

Does this occur if you start in Safe Mode? Does the Windows key on your keyboard do anything? Can you test with another user account?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

If you have System Restore points then using that may be an option.

You could try the System File Checker program.
