Can anyone tell me if there are any standard ports used, when connecting to a Cisco VPN router?

I'm a SysAdmin and Applications Engineer... I have never setup more than a simple home firewall, and have never setup a VPN connection "through" a firewall before...

I recently setup VPN connections from my home-base Windows PC, and from my home-based Linux server... Everything works fine from both of them, as long as I don't use a router, or firewall...

As soon as I put either of them in place, I get "remote peer refused connection".

I'm sure it either has something to do with the fragmented packet headers, or the fact that I don't have any specific ports forwarded through my router...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

TIA

what kind of router is it, and what is the router configured to do.

if you are connecting a firewall it is likely that the firewall is blocking the necessary ports to establish the VPN. What VPN hardware/software are you using Erik Rudnick, CCIE No. 9545
