I've developed an Access database that I want to distribute to remote users who do not have MS Access. I'm not a hardcore developer but I need to know the easiest way to turn the database into a stand-alone system that my users can operate without MS Access on their machines. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Dear Jeff,

What you will need to do is install the Access Runtime version of Access.

To do this, you will need the 'Office Developer Tools' CD.

This is an additional product that you can buy from Microsoft that will allow you to create an install procedure that installs all the needed files to make the Access Runtime version work.

Note: Make sure to order the 'Office Developer Tools' that matches the version of Access that you are working with.

Good Luck,

Mucho gracias, Hap! Now I have to get our IT shop to shell out the cash! ;-)

Jeff,
I'm in the same boat. I would find a Access developer for the release level you are interested in. You will the be able to compile and deployable program with a complete install package. you will simply install this package on all PC's with no Access application and you will be able to run your appliaction. Remember to keep your source.

I have a Access database that is on a shared directory that was installed by Microsoft Access Runtime. Some computers will install the runtime and others will not. Do you have any solutions. My client is running Windows 98 Second Edition with all service packs and patches installed. Help!

Visual Basic.
