If I have fields called USERID and DATETIME in my table and I want the userid of the logged-on user as well as date/time to be stmaped when a record is updated, what do I do ?

If you're entering/editing data through a form, use the form's BeforeUpdate event to populate these fields... VBA along the lines of...

Me.Userid = CurrentUser()
Me.[Datetime] = Now()
