My trusty, dependable, beloved Laser Jet 4 Plus has suddenly started giving me stack and I/O errors. This is intermitent. Usually I can get a good print by simply re-submitting the request. I took the printer to a good shop, and they couldn't find anything wrong. Could this be a software/driver problem? Why would it start now? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

A bad or loose cable/connector could easily be the cause of this. Is the printer shared, networked or locally connected ?
You might also want to check if any driver changes or updates has been made to the system it's connected to.
