SSL Required, but its not!!

Hi

I have an issue with IIS on Windows 2003 server.

I have installed WSUS on a server that had a website already set up in Default so gets installed to port 8530.

If I navigate to

http://<servername>:8530

I get the error page

403.4 SSL required to view this page. This is what I expect to see. If I then navigate to

http://<servername>:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab

I get the same error page. This is not what I expect to see.

I have checked the setting for requiring SSL and it is not ticked.

I have also set up a test server using same settings in VMWARE and I can access the wuident.cab file no problems.

Installed to default website is Symantec Discovery and also Symantec AV console.

Sharepoint services is also installed, but on a completely different port.

Can anybody help with this.

Is SSL enabled at the default/parent web site level? or is it being done at lower levels...i assume if ssl is being used at all, then it will be set with the certificate at the parent website (default web site)

if so, sub sites will require this as well if their authflags match the parent site, which they typically do..this is why when you chenge things like ssl requirement you get prompted if you want to propagate it down and you have to manually select the sites...

Thanks for the reply but I have managed to sort this out now, I downloaded a metabase editor and there was some messed up security entries in there.

Once I fixed these everything was fine.
