Hi fellows.... I have a small problem.
IIS 5.0 running on a 2k DC.
First I installed a Standalone CA (might be the problem), create the certificate, installed on the server, everything seems to be ok with that.
Went to the virtual directory I want to secure, checked Require SSl under Directory Security.
Went to client (win2k Pro) using IE, typed requested and installed the certificate.
Now everytime I go to it tells me requieres SSl, as expected. When I switch to https:// IE tells me I will enter a secure page, but when it tries, a "Page can not be displayed" comes up all the time.
I telneted into the server port 443, and is listening.
I tried Netbios name to reach the web server avoiding any router (blocking ports), but the same thing happens.
Now, what could be the problem. (Not being and enterprise root CA)

thanks for the advice..I will sure try everything on monday..
I was reading a little bit around and found that microsoft released a fix and both the workstation and the server must have it installed, otherwise ..you migh run into problems...
It happens to me also, that when you request the server/certsrv link, and go through at the end it stays on Downloading ActiveX control forever(on the server and some other computers).
I have a lot to do on monday regarding this matter..If anything makes it work I will sned you the links..and everything..
Thanks a lot!! A+, MCP, CCNA

I just got it to work.
I used several links links from microsoft, follow the steps, and it worked!!.
This are the links..

In Case you have problems with the ActiveX control

How to install properly th Certificate using the CA.(links are bellow the text)

First) Generate the certreq.txt by using the Certificate Wizard on IIS (Directory Security).
Second) open and request a certificate-->Advanced Request-->PAste the certreq.txt content in the box-->Submit.
Third) Issue the certificate by going into CA console on the server-->
Forth) check again and check pending certificates..Download the certificate.
Fifth) Using IIS -->directory Security-->Server Certificate-->INStall th requested certificate by browsing into the .cer file you downloaded.
And that's it!!
