I have problems with our server. The server was shutdown properly (through remaining minutes of the UPS) after we had a power failure yesterday. Before shutting down the server, everything is working well. But when we restarted the server, the SQL Server can't be restarted.

I have the following error messages when starting the services manually:

SQL Server Agent
"The dependency service or grooup failed to start"

MSSQLSERVER
"Could not start the MSSQLSERVER service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error."

I have checked the logon properties of the service as suggested by some conversationis in this forum, but everything is okay.

Could there be any other problem which I need to check? Thanks in advance

What happens when you run the following command from the command line interface (DOS Prompt)

net start mssqlserver

If that works then fire off the next command the same way

NET START SQLSERVERAGENT

Thanks

I tried those commands but here are the error messages:

1st command:
The MSSQLSERVER service could not be started. The service did not report an error.

2nd command:
The dependency serice or group failed to start.
