Moving from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. I am looking to control the SQL Server Agent from a remote desktop. I am used to doing this with Enterprise Mgr.

I downloaded the new Mgmt Studio Express, but can't find the server agent. I have the non-express studio version on the server (which shows the agent). Can I install that on my desktop ? Download? I tried installing from SQL Server 2005 CD, but I get a "platform error".

TIA

The SQL SErver agent is still part of SQL Server Managment Studio. Are you viewing the server through Object Explorer in SSMS?

Are you a system admin for the sql instance you have connected to?

I am the sysadmin. It appears the SQL management Studio Express is intended for the SQL Server Express, which does not allow SQL Server Agent.

My question, then, is is possible to install the SQL Management Studio on PC other than the SQL server box ? Can it be installed from the SQL Server CD ? Or from a download? I can't find anything in the doc's on how to install just this compoment.

Thanks for responding. I've been there, and maybe I need new glasses, but I can't find it. I can only file the "express" version that doesn't work.
