Greetings.

I'm migrating to SQL Server 2000 from various Linux DBs, and I've just attempted my first installation.

Everything appeared to go well, but when I went to Enterprise Manager to "New SQL Server Registration," the server is not listed among the "Available Severs" .... in fact, the only server listed there is a Linux server which has no SQL Server on it (obviously).

I'm sure this is elementary, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what I've done wrong.

Anyone who can point me in the right direction? Any and all suggestions most appreciated.

(I realize I may not have told you everything you need to know to answer my question -- please ask for more info if you need it.)

Thanks again.

Kenn

YOu can try typing in the IP address of the server rather than selecting from the list.

Or if you have your hosts file set up for DNS resolution, type the "friendly" name instead of the IP address.
