The Services Accounts are Windows logins, not SQL Server logins. SQL Server must start as a service in WIN2K and uses a WIN2K account to do so. You cannot use SA unless it is also a Windows login but this is not recommended.

I don't use clustered servers but have read that the SQL Server Service Accounts must be Domain accounts rather than local accounts when installing SQL Server on a cluster. That is why the Local option is disabled.

I recommend that you give the SA login a secure passwaord. Leaving it null opens the entire server to anyone who can get to the server. Anyone logging in as SA will have full System Administrator priveleges. This would not be good in any environment but is very bad when the server is open to a WAN or the Internet. Terry L.
