Hi,

What is the best practice to backup the SQL database? I have been trying to backup one of my database and I have set the scheduled and point the backup location, but when I go back Backup again, it still shows the old settings? Can you please let me know what is the best method to backup the DB?

Many thanks,
Steve

I created 'dump devices' (sp_addumpdevice) and then created jobs that use the BACKUP command to backup to my dump devices.

I haven't had any problem, maybe you could provide more detail about what you did and what is happening.

When you right click on a database and select backup it doesn't pull the settings that you selected the last time you backed the database up.

To find backups that you've scheduled you'd need to look at the jobs in the SQL Agent.
