SQL Server and Novell

Novell 6.5 box and Windows sitting next to each other
Windows Box has SQL Server running on it
Is it possible to install the SQL software on the Windows box and then 'point' it to a set of data on the Novell Box?

Although everything is not installed yet the Novell server has been for several years and SQL has got to be the next stage.

Any pointers anyone ??
