Can someone please advice.

I am new tpo sql server and am just finding my way round with a new job so please bear with me if I ask or do silly thing...

i have a version of SQL SERVER 2000 on my machine and have installed SQL Server 2005 Components (only) on it as well to be able to use the 2005 Configuration Manager.

However when I open up Configuration Manager 2005 and select the SQL Server 2005 Services there are no items listed for me to select!!

Can someone please advice.
Help greatly appreciated.

No I it has a sql server 2000 server and stuff but with 2005 I just installed the components part!!

Is that the problem. would I need to install the server in order for the components to work?

Also is there a way to run 2000 and 2005 together?

You can run 2000 and 2005 together. If you don't have a 2005 server on your PC, then there is nothing to configure.. it won't configure a 2000 server as far as I know.

So I should be able to install a 2005 server as well as a 2005 server?

I installed enterprise edition of the server but their was still nothing listed under configuration manager. Is this because I need the developer edition? please advise as to what I could be doing wrong? I initially thought it was maybe because i didn't have the IIS installed but then installed this and still had the same prob!!! Arrrgghhh!

cheers,
