Can anyone help by pointing me to a web site that tells me, in simple terms, how to set up a SQL SERVER 2000 database Replication.

Many thanks in advance
Andrew

First, check Books Online. It has many details how replication works.

Also try which is Microsoft's Developers website for all things SQL.

The bad news is, there is no "simple" way to set up Replication. Replication is a very detailed, difficult and prone to failure kind of process. There are 6 different kinds of replication with 3 major components (publisher, subscriber, and distributor), 2 different types of subscriptions, about 5 or 6 different agents, and a whole heap o' information that you need to know in advance before starting the process. And if you do things in the wrong order, then it will only give you headache after headache.

Some books you can track down include Microsoft's "SQL Server 2000 Administrator's Companion", Sybex's "SQL Server 2000 Administration Study Guide (Exam 70-228)" and SAM's "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Unleased" (big orange book). All of these have served me well for SQL references. I especially like most of Sybex's books. They delve into detail about *why* you might want to do things a certain way.

Enjoy the madness!

Many thanks for your help. I thought that there probably would not be any easy option, such is life.

I will no doubt spend many hours trying to get this right, so thanks again for the link.

Cheers
