I keep getting an error when trying to install SQL Server 2000 (Personal) on my Windows XP Professional system.

I've tried just about all the setup options I can think of, but it keeps giving me the follwing error:

The specified file cannot be openned as read-only. Ensure the source file is present inthe location specified and restart setup.

File: M:\x86\setup\...\Binn\sql iis admin.msc

I've verified that this file is on the CD, and since it's installing from a CD the file has to be read only. I've even copied the CD contents to my harddrive, turned off the read-only switch for all files, and still get the same error.

I've also verified that IIS is installed in my Windows XP OS.

I've also tried running the SQL setup using the Windows Compatibility wizard, and choosing Windows 2000. That gives me an erorr about Windows Logo.

Does anyone have any idea why this error keeps occurring

I have come across a similar problem which turned out to be caused by a corrupted CD. After trying another CD, it installed correctly ..

Just install the SQL Desktop Engine from the MSOffice CD or SQL 2000 CD
