Hi Everybody:

Does anyone know if Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2000 runs faster than Standard Edition of SQL 2000 if they both are running in Win 2000 Server with same number of CPUs(2 or 4)? I know that you sure can do more stuffs with Enterprise Edition, but in terms of speed, I am not sure if Enterprise Editon performs better? Can anyone please give me some ideas?

Another question is that when you are using MSDE, the database size in MSDE is limitted to 2GB...Does anyone know what happens if you keep writting to it? Does MSDE just simply stop functioning? or it will crash? or it will just keep running with writting anything into the database? Any idea? Thanks alot....

Hi,

In answer to your first question, as far as I know the differences between Standard and Enterprise editions of SQL Server relate only to the functionality of the software, not the performance.

As for MSDE files I don't know, but in my experience with other database software (FoxPro) with a 2GB limit the software was unable to read from files that reached or exceeded 2GB.

cheers,

Nathan
