Hi,

I have noticed that the icon next to the server name in enterprise manager. Which usually looks like a tower computer with a green play symbol next to it has changed. This usually changes when SQL is started, stopped and paused. It now looks the same but it has a red vertical wavey line on the right hand side. What does this mean??

Many Thanks

Paul

This means that your server are in the PAUSED state.

PAUSED means that no more connections can be accepted, but existing connections are still kept active.

PAUSE are normally used when some MONTHEND task needs to run, and no other connections except the current ones are allowed.

You can just select the START SERVER option from EM.

I have checked, ther server is already running.

It has the correct icon. IE the play symbol.

When i expand the server to show a list of databases then the icon changes. It still shows the server as running but a red wavey line is onthe right hand side of the icon.

Many Thanks

The red wave line means that you are connected to this server via enterprise manager
