SQL Back-up fails

Hi

We are backing up a SQL server on Legato 6.2 Biild 109. Up untill last week we havn't had a problem with the back-ups. Both The full/incremental Back-up was backing-up and the SQL back-up was backing up with out any problems.

Since last week the Full/incremental Back-up is backing up. However, the SQL back-up is not backing up and we are getting the following error messages:

Jnp0x134app0003.infracojnplimited.co.uk:MSSQL: nsrsqlsv: Internal system error, please see nsr\applogs\xbsa.messages on the client system for reason. (BSA code 3): Can't configure VDI set <BSMSQL00031B> (unexpected error code)

jnp0x134app0003.infracojnplimited.co.uk:MSSQL: nsrsqlsv: Aborting operation now. 08/04/03 02:30:33 nsrd: runq: NSR group SQL exited with return code 1.

I have checked xbsa.messages on the client it gives the following message:
XBSA-1.0.1 rt_2001_1Q.Build.73 2120 Sun Nov 24 01:18:22 2002
_nwbsa_is_retryable_error: received a retryable network error (Severity 0 Number -13): retry needed.

I have checked the connectivity from the server (client) to the back-up server and the connection is ok. I have also reinstalled the SQL agent on the client, stopped and restarted the services on both the client and the back-up server but I am still getting the same error message.

I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on this issue or point me in the right direction.

Have you check the file nsr\applogs\xbsa.messages ?
Is the SQL database in a correct state?
I had this kind of error after a network problem during a sql save; when the previous backup process is running for SQL, you can't run another save.

The problem has been resolved

The problem was that the SQL server had created a virtual port to the back-up device and in the process of backing-up it had crashed, hence because this port was open SQL was unable to create a new virtual port thats why the subsequent back-ups were failing. Once I killed the process and restarted the back-up it has backed-up successfully.
