I have a standard SQL 7.0 installation on NT 2000. None of the "text" data type fields (i.e. "text","ntext","varchar" etc.) will accept more than 1024 characters. I have tried both manual insertions and update queries from Access 97 and still no luck. No matter how large the insertion is, it truncates the data to 1024 characters.
Thanks in advance.

use varbinary. It accept to 8000 characters. John Fill

The problem may be in your interface, e.g. ODBC, that truncates the data. So check your interface settings. The database in my view cannot be the problem.
good luck

I second vanoordt. It is likely an Access or ODBC limitation. We often get the reverse of this issue as a question here: why can only pull back X characters of my text column. The answer always involves the particular client (Query Analyzer, typically), not the storage in the database. Robert Bradley
