Lately been seeing windows minimized that cannot be maximized that say something like "media fastclick" . I suspect this is some form of spyware, but my Adaware or Spybot SD doesn't pick it up.

thanks

I can't find any specific information regarding this as being specific form of spyware. But I do see a few sites with people complaining of similiar behavior.

First thing...normally post these types of problems to
But onto the problem. Start by connecting to

and run their house call program. It may pick up something that Adaware and Spybot are missing. If it finds nothing, the next step would be to download hijack this! and run it on your system.

At this point you can do one of two things. Look for help here with the HJT! log or paste the log here...

And it will do a basic analysis of the file. A BIG WARNING WITH HJT! VERIFY ALL ENTRIES PRIOR TO REMOVAL!!!!

With any Windows XP or ME machine, ensure you turn off system restore prior to starting any form of troubleshooting.

The above advise is good once you know you are dealing with an infection, otherwise I would leave the System Restore Points intact in case you need them. You would only re-infect your machine if you manually restored from them anyway. So on that topic my advise is to leave the restore points alone until you have confirmed an infection.

Make sure any malware, virus, or trojan scanning program is using the latest "definitions" or you may miss something.
