Hi, I have this pc with WinXP Home SP1. On friday afternoon there was a momentary blackout and when the pc restarted it was sssssslllllllllllooooooo ok, so i started to see what the problem was and found out that the CPU was always running at 100% (or 97%, same thing). When looking for the trouble maker I found that it was the spool service (the printing service, spoolsrv.exe). so I ended it and voila, the pc ran smoothly again... but I couldn't print or even see the printers.
As you can see, the spool service got corrupted (my guess, thanks to the blackout. The pc had no UPS). How can I restore/fix this service without reinstalling winxp over itself?

thanks a lot!

Start, run, net start spooler

Does it go back to 100%?

If so, delete all the files under:
%windir%\system32\spool\printers
