I have a Novell Netware 5.1 SP2a Server with 200 networked windows 98 PCs. Periodically when a user sends a word or excel file to print, the file will print and they get a Spool32 error stating that Spool32 caused an Invalid Page fault in module Kernel32.dll. The application hangs, they can't save that file, they don't have any printers listed under printers, and they have to restart PC to get back printers. We have tried putting Spool32.exe in startup, install a new HP LaserJet printer driver, and set the printer not to spool print jobs. It still happens intermittently. It happens to about 10 different users a day for the last 2 weeks. We run Netshield ver 4.1.40 on the server and McAfee VirusScan ASAP on the PCs. ASAP updates everyday off of the internet to each PC. Most PCs are Win 98 1st Edition. We have 20 Win 2000 Pro PCs that have not had the problem. McAfee said to try the SPOOLSS.DLL ver 4.90.0.3000 from Windows ME. We are testing it on 3 PCs and have not had it happen in the last 3 days. McAfee also suggested to exclude spool32.exe and Spoolss.dll from virus scanning. We have not tried that yet. Any other suggestions or things to try would be appreciated. Thanks.
