How do you stop printing the same record over again when spooling the output?
I would just like to see the first record of the like records only.

Acct98,

I'm sure we can help. I'm just not sure what you are asking for. Could you please copy and paste an excerpt of your current output and explain from the example what you would like to see differently?

Thanks,

Dave

NAME STATE
JOHN DC
JOHN SC
JOHN CA

I Would only like to see the following:

NAME STATE
JOHN DC
SC
CA

Its a simple command but I left my book at home.

Aaah, now I see. You need output-formatting help from SQL*Plus functionality (not SQL). Here's what you want:
Code:
break on name
select * from tt_namestate;

NAME ST
-------------------- --
JOHN DC
                     SC
                     CA

3 rows selected.
