Splitting up a 500GB Netware Volume 1

I have a 500GB volume with 164 directories on it. Can I split up the backup on this with a Directive to skip or include only certain directories?
Example
Can I create 2 or 3 diferent client backups to the same server. But only backup A thru M with one group run and then get N thru Z on the second group run.

This is a large volume and I need to get it baked up within the over night hours. But instead it starts at 18:00 and continues way into the workday the following day. I have a Networker server and 2 storage nodes for the LAN clients 15 dedicated storage nodes and a Scalar i2000 with 9 LTO2 drives. and approx 150 servers being backed up

If anyone knows if and how this could be accomplished I would appreciate some advice and insight.

Yes, you can create multiple "logical" clients and specify the first level directories in the save set list. Then assign different groups to each client.

Unfortunately, wildcards are not allowed. The best is to consolidate your number of first level directories to a minimum.

I have exactly the same situation with couple of my Windows client, like "605" said, try and consolidate the directories first (simplifying client managment), then slit them up between multiple clients, keep the Index directory same on all client (?), other tips may include utilizing JUMBO FRAMES, Upgrading client to GB if already not on it, backing up with different schedule and\or Teaming the NIC for heigher throughput.
Make sure you do a restore "Test" to verify your backups.
My biggest headach is making sure each client is backed up and not left out, is there any utility or command which can verify "configured" clients easily, in other words give a top level overview of configured clients, resorces and etc.
Right now i do a long and tedious manual checkup on my server resorces quaterly

I have tried with wildcards and they are alowed,
but i can't restore that saveset anymore.

Do you want to tell us that you can browse the index but can not recover? this looks strange. What is the problem/indication?

if i want to recover saveset a* i don't get output,

I can't browse \members\a*
but i can browse (example) \members\abc
\members\abcd
\members\asdfg
\members\az......
and then recover.
The problem is that i can't recover a saveset a* (example)

Aha - wildcards. I do not know the exact capabilities of the Netware client. It could be that wildcards are not supported.

In this case it is better to recover and relocate the upper level directory and to pick up your files/directories from there.
