Hello,

I've noticed that my two server (both who act as forwarding DNS servers), both seem to be accessing the following IP address:

192.175.48.1 on port 53

I've since found that this is due to my DNS servers trying to register its information on the pulic Internet. Is this correct?

Does this cause a problem? Do I need to correct this issue?

Any help on this would be most appreciated. DNS is a "grey" area for me!

what do your servers access on behalf of the network clients?

are they behind a firewall?
do you use a proxy?

do they forward to your ISP DNS servers?

Hi,

we are on a private network 10.0.0....
We have installed DNS on the two domain controllers as "Active Direectory Integrated" DNS

We are pn a private network behind a ADSL router / firewall with NAT

The DNS servers act as forwarders to our ISP

your client PCs have your internal DNS as servers...

and the server forward to ISP.
OK..

does internet hostname resolution work correctly?
if not, delete the root zone from your DNS
(the [.] zone)

what does 192.175.48.1 resolve to?

Hi,

Internet hostname resolution works OK. The document I found on the net about this can be found at:

192.175.48.1 appears to be related to a Blackhole or Prisoner of IANA??
See this link:

Does this make sense?

I cannot resolve 192.175.48.1 If I TRACERT to it, it stops after 3 hops.

Thanks

what you need to do in that case is set up a reverse lookup zone for your 192.168 network.
