I have a database that is split over a network an a network drive. All works fine. Super.

The problem that i am having is that there is a severe lag time opening forms. Is there any way in access to speed this up, or is it soley a function of my network speed. It is in a university setting, so I am running a pretty fast ethernet.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Adam

Adam - can you define how you have the database split? It sounds like the front end and back end are both on network drives. If this is the case, it is totally a function of your network speed.

Ideally, you want a copy of the front end (if possible) to reside on the local machine. If you have multiple users, you will want to check out Ben O'Hara's FAQ on making sure that each local copy is up to date: faq705-2010. You can tweak his idea to meet your needs, but it is a great starting point.

Let me know if you have any questions on this.
