Spare Extensions

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find/download/check on what extensions are spare in the system?

Let me explain further - we are using ASA currently to create multiple agents at once with the Import Agents feature. We have created a database and spreadsheet that people enter in the information for new staff and this creates the names, cor, passwords, for the new staff. The spreadsheet is fully populated ready to be imported into ASA, except for spare logins to be created.

If there is a way that we can run something (at the moment any suggestion is a good suggestion), that will enable us to find out what extensions in a set range are spare, then the process will be fully automated.

Currently we need to go into a switch session (GEDI or emulator), duplicate any extension with the "dup station xxxx start xxxx count 15" command, write this down and then enter these figures into the spreadsheet. I am looking for an automatic way if it is possible.

Try this command <list sta xxxx count NNN> NNN being the number of extensions you want to search through. Which ever extensions don't show up, you can use. There's also a "Find unused extensions" button on ASA you could use, but it finds them one by one.

I found that the list sta commands does not show extensions that are assigned to other objects. Other objects are agents, data modules, hunt group extensions, VDN's and such. I use list extens count XXX this give all objects.

Can you use the find unused extensions query located under the general tab in ASA? You can specify ranges et al. Or maybe I don't fully understand the question.

The command <list ext xxxx count NNN> will show all objects, data modules, phones, whatever.

I am interested in your idea--however--I started with a spreadsheet and listed all possible extensions and then deleted all that were in use---from that point on--every time I assign a new ext/sta, I delete that 4 digits from the spreadsheet. Not quite as automatic as your intending yours to be---I suppose you could ultimately use Access ---but if you would---I would like to get a copy of what you have used to see if I can incorporate and use.

Thanks all for the ideas.

The "Find unused extensions" will only give out 1 extension, so when i need to add agent logins for 15 people, this becomes a little tedious. Also it doesnt take into account the extension it just gave me unless I add it first.

I am trying to work on the "list extension xxxx count xxxx" and then try and work it out from there, but this may be a little further down the track.

Hello,

We use the 'Find Unused Extensions' utility that comes with the Call Flow Extract from

http://www.utilcall.com

All we have to do now is select our site, add our dial plan into the system (the first time), and now we just click on the Get Unused Extensions button.

When it is done we get an HTML document that shows us all of our free extensions for Agents, Stations, VDNs, Announcements etc.

There is also a really cool option that will show us extensions that were defined outside of our range. I.E someone setup an announcement in the VDN range.

The only issue that i have with the unused extensions on Utilcall is that it gives you all extensions in the specified range and not just the unused ones.

I can do this with ASA just by "list extension xxxx count 100" as an example. It will give me all extension that are being used, so i just use the ones that aren't listed.

This is why i am really after something that will spit out 5 extensions that are not being used. Maybe utilcall can expand on what they have and offer this.

There are two options at the top of the report,

'Show Extensions out of Range' and 'Show Unused Extensions'. You can just uncheck these and it will only show you the free ones.

Since the unused extensions show up in a different color, we keep all the options on just to show us everything on the switch.

How about doing "duplicate station count 16, starting station number whatever", that will tell you the next 16 available, then cancel out.
