I'm new to Solaris and was wondering what the differences were in running Solaris on a SPARC architecture vs. running it on an x86 system? Is it just boot up options?

Thanks,

In the olden days, Solaris performed better on SPARC. I think it's pretty even now, but probably SPARC would be better for large loads - say users in the thousands.

Just my two cents, though.

What are the differences in actually using the OS? I heard that the only difference is the way SPARC machines boot up?
