Hi. We have a NT4 domain. Exchange 5.5 on a WINDOWS 2000 Server. We are a non profit institution. Looking for ways to cut down on SPAM, Any suggestions of third party utilities that could help us ?

Thank you

There is a lot of different software you could use, but there is also services you can get.
On my privat domain I am thinking about moving it to
Depending on your size they could also help you.

The problem is that all anti spam solutions will filter mail out as spam that isn't spam.

Make no mistake, you can filter out spam, but you will never reduce it! If the answer is here, mark it, others can benefit from it too.
Free Tip: The F1 Key does NOT destroy your PC!

I put NEMX ( on our 5.5 server and love it for the following reasons:
1. Cheap: $500
2. Easy to install: downloaded the trial version and installed and other than my IMC stopping and starting during the install, did not take down the server. It did not even need a reboot on NT4! If you wish to purchase you just install the key and it becomes a full version with no reboots.
3. Very tweakable: you can filter with reverse black lists, sender recipiant addresses, and words in the subject.
4. Doesn't delete the emails if you want to check out what is being filtered: I set up a rule to forward to a box where I check to see if anything valid gets yanked. Once I am confident in a rule, I set for auto delete.

Unfortuanately, you have to pay an additional 300 bucks to scan the content of emails, but I have not really needed it. It took a few weeks to tweak the filter but we have effectively cut 80-90% of the spam.

No, I do not work for them; just like the product. I can't believe my company went so long without some sort of email filter.
