I am thinking about upgrading our sql server 7.0 service pack from sp2 to sp3. Due to the fact that I'm getting the following error when I try to shrink my database

Could not adjust the space allocation for file 'PBDSS_dat'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3140) DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator. [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 2528). The step failed.

And from what I read this error is suspose to be resolved with Sp3.

any suggestion hints on installing sp3 or things I should look out for. this is the first sp that I will be installing.

Installation of SP3 should be relatively easy. Make sure you review the README.TXT file for the service pack.

SQL Magazine published some tips for installing SP3. You may want to review that article, also.
