I'm contemplating installing SP3 on my Windows 2000 Server. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience, good or bad, with this Service Pack.

I installed sp3 onto all of my Windows 2000 network servers about a month ago. I have not had a problem with this service pack, nor have I spoken to anyone who has. Hope this info helps.

Basically if your server is running fine on SP2 then don't upgrade.

There is currently a fourteen page list of post-sp3 hotfixes. If you don't need to upgrade...don't.

SP3 is the Devil.
At least if you're running a Print Server.
It totally screwed up things for me.
Also I believe therer are some other DNS issues but I don't remember them.
My advice is if you don't have a good reason for upgrading, don't

Thanks,

I'm trying to troublshoot a problem with Perfmon. The counters don't show up (just #'s 10008, 10003, etc.), and I can't use the program to monitor my server.

One Microsoft article referenced my Event Log errors, and the SP3 documentation said that it addressed these issues...I'm just worried about what other issues SP3 will introduce if it does indeed do what it says it does....never can be to careful with trusting MS documentation :)

We have had 0 problems with sp3 and i have it installed on my print server and about 400 other pc's and servers.
our standard build is:
win 2k sp3
ie 5.5 sp2
windows media player 7.1 (fills some holes)
directx 8.1 (not req'd for strictly biz apps)
tightvnc 1.2.6 (awesome program
