Hello,

I installed SP2 on Windows XP Pro. It was horrible. Uninstalled it. Office 2003 no longer works. No programs will run. I have repair and uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Keep getting this error when trying to run any office program:

Code:
[red]
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application.
[/red]

I have also successfully installed Office 2003 SP2 update. But nonetheless, the programs still do not run.

What gives?

This seems to be one update where you really should take the advice offered about backing up your system before installing the Service Pack.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with SP2.

It looks like your registry has been damaged you may have to re-install Office 2003 somehow, or even XP after a format. Any chance of getting Office installed via Safe Mode?

This also might be an alternative solution.

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

This is a layman's version of Q307545 in simple language.

After Installing SP2, Uh-Oh Reboot,Reboot,Reboot

I figured it out. The SP2 Uninstaller removed SP1 as well. SP1 is require for office 2003 to run. I reinstalled Service Pack 1 and it worked perfectly.

DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 2!
