I have system with SP2 and I cannont connect to VPN using the VPN client that ships with XP. If I turn off the firewall then it works. I saw that there is a fix if I am using Cisco VPN Client, but none if I am using XP Client. Please help.

Thanks

In the Firewall Exceptions list, checkmark to allow the two VPN choices, and the IPSec choice.

i have to disable the firewall to use my virtella cisco vpn utility

bcastner... I don't see any VPN choices in the exceptions list.

also, i have applied the patch you referenced in your second post already... still doesn't work unless i disable firewall.

any other solutions?

In the exceptions list, do the 'Add program' list, and browse and point to the executable for the VPN program itself.

I am having the exact same issue. Fore some reason when the firewall is enabled I am getting a 50% packet loss when doing ping -t. Once the firewall is disable all ping receive a reply with 0 packet loss. Has anybody else experienced this with sp2 and the built in vpn client?

Thank you
