Hi, - As per the subject. Reason being because very soon I will be f disc and reformatting from 2 partitions and going back to a full hard drive with no partition. Ideally, would like to install XP Home and then install the service pack. Where would I find the full download of SP1 if I am able to do so.

Thank you.

Hi Bcastner - Thank you for replying so quick. However, I did realise that I was able to download all of that. What I want to know because I DO NOT LIVE IN THE USA OR CANADA is there a way that I can copy the SP1 to a folder and then burn it onto a CD. - This will then save me a 3 hour download when it comes to re-installing XP home after reformatting.

Thank you.

Any Microsoft Branch should be able to supply SP1 on a CD for a small price. You also see it often on the free CD's from computer magazines. Or you can download it (about 250MB) and save it to file and copy it to CD.

For your other questions about boot CD's see this thread.

Hi bcastner - - I sort of meant that and linney gave me the same info. - I DO NOT feel confident in doing this. What would be ideal would be if I was able to download it from microsoft site onto my hard drive and then burn to a blank CD. - - At the moment, if you download it, it automatically installs itself - right?
Perhaps I should keep an eye out for a freebie from the PC mags. - - Oh well, - thanks anyway.

The link I gave you is not an installation, it is just a file. This is what is referred to as the network installation version of SP1.

Sorry Bill, I missed your earlier post with the link to the service pack...

Freestone, no biggie. I really was not commenting on your post but trying to reassure onlymel that there was a downloadable version that was different from an automatic installation.

Hey guys - Thanks for all your help. - I have now downloaded and burned to a CD the service pack 1a.(128 meg.)
This will save me downloading all the updates when I come to re-formatting.
Hey, who needs a book when we have people like you as registered members. - Once again - THANK YOU.
