Hey all,

I have a double barrelled question.

Firstly does anyone know where to find details on the MS website regarding sourcesafe 2005 (can find information on sites trying to sell it, but none on the MS site).

Also can you use SS2005 with VB6 - or do i have to buy SS6?

Yup...you can put VB6 code in it. I have some legacy stuff in mine.
 
But, if you're choosing a different source control product, why not take the opportunity to move to one that performs better, and doesn't corrupt it's repository?

For small to medium sized teams, Subversion or Vault are good choices.
For large teams, Perforce, MS Visual Studio Team System, ClearCase, or StarTeam are good choices.

Becuase the migration of our product would take months to get working in VB.net - months we dont currently have :-)

Migration to one of the other tools should only take a weekend. Only downside is that you would probably lose your history (StarTeam has a migration tool that will bring it along, and some of the others might too).

I would think that you can't afford not to leave SourceSafe. But, it's your project...

Sorry i thought you meant a migration away from VB6! Sorry!

Would definitely consider other programs! Does StarTeam work well with VB6? Also what about VS2005?

Does anyone else have any recommendations?
