My company has an application developed on MS Access which was developed by a programmer who is no longer with the company. The database was split. Now I am able to find the _BE.MDB which has the tables but cannot see the forms anywhere. He had created an executable file of the database. Any way to find the source code?

Vandys
You may not need the source code to view the other part of the database,... maybe!

if the structure is the same then you should be able to make a copy of the front end mde file into another directory

start access in the usual way open the second copy of the front end, depending on what version you have shift key and open the application and unhide the database window,

relink the tables etc but from the old database mdb portion.

you may be able to nut out the general program just view the mde file, there is a lot of text in it :)

Hi Robert,

I did the same as you mentioned, but the problem is that the forms design is still not accessible. In fact, the button to view the design of the form is disabled and all I can do is run the form, but cannot modify the form. I need to make only a few changes and add a couple of new reports to the application.I am worried that if we cannot do so then we might have to scrap the appln. and do it from scratch.

Any suggestions?

Vandys
